Turner P. Gaines, Jr., DDS

Dr. Gaines, a Macon native, received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Georgia, where he lettered in football. Following the completion of his D.D.S degree from Emory University, he served two years as a captain in the U.S Army Dental Corps at Fort Bragg, N.C. Returning to Macon, he opened his dental practice in 1973. He is a member of the ADA, GDA (Honorable Fellow), Central District Dental Association (Past President), Pierre Fauchard Academy and GA Academy of Dental Practice (Emeritus).

He and his wife, Kathi, have three daughters who have blessed them with seven grandchildren. When not involved with patient care, Dr. Gaines enjoys golf, saltwater fishing, following the Bulldogs and spending time with his family.

Joshua Buckner, DMD

Dr. Buckner earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the Dental College of Georgia (DCG) at Augusta University. He received additional training at the DCG General Practice Residency, completing the IV sedation course and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry’s Implant Maxicourse. He is an active member of the Hinman Dental Society, Georgia Dental Association, American Dental Association, and American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

It is important to Dr. Buckner that every patient’s experience is as comfortable and pleasant as possible. He understands the value of taking time to discuss treatment options, answer questions and develop a customized treatment plan for every patient. Dr. Buckner’s philosophy is to be patient-centered and provide excellent restorative care for the entire family.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Buckner enjoys spending time with his family and church family, attending UGA and Mercer sporting events and playing pickleball!

Greg Burns, DMD

Dr. Burns is a life-long resident of Macon. After graduating from Northeast High School, he received an Associate Degree in Science from Macon Junior College, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Georgia College and his D.M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry (’82). During his senior year at MCG, he received “The International College of Dentists Outstanding Achievement Award.” Dr. Burns has been in private practice in Macon since August of 1982. He is a member of the ADA, GDA, Central District Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry (Fellow). In 2021, he received the GDA Certificate of Life Membership. He was a member of the Central District Peer Review and Ethics Committee (1998-2021) and the acting Chairman (2011-2021). He and his wife, Becky, have two daughters and three grandchildren. They are active members of Ingleside Baptist Church.

When not in the office, Dr. Burns enjoys spending time with his family, Bible study, cutting grass on his tractor or zero-degree mower, and in November he gets very busy decorating his place for Christmas!

Emsley Smith, DMD

Dr. Smith completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at LaGrange College, where she was also a pitcher for the LaGrange College softball team and a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University.

A Forsyth native, Dr. Smith is proud to serve the community she grew up in. She is passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate dental care and is dedicated to helping her patients achieve happy, healthy smiles.

Outside the office, Dr. Smith enjoys painting, cooking, and riding Seadoos. She also participates in competitive shooting with her dad and cherishes spending time with her family, many of whom live in middle Georgia. She is engaged to Dr. Sean Park, a fellow dentist practicing in Macon, and together they enjoy watching Kdramas and eating good food.
